This course is based on evidence drawn from the behavioural sciences and sports psychology. Mental Strength and ‘Mental Toughness’ have some similarities with the idea of ‘Resilience’ (the ability to bounce back from adversity), but there are some key differences. Learners explore these differences and apply that knowledge to improve their understanding of their own thoughts and behaviours. Changing routines and altered ways of thinking can have a great impact and lead to more general improvements in their lives.
The course is broken down into 2 bite-sized units with the following titles:
- Self-assessment
- Creating a Stronger You
On completion of this course learners will be able to:
- Identify similarities and differences between resilience and mental toughness
- Apply evidence-based learning to achieve behaviour change
- Create a vision for the future that includes a better version of themselves
- Assess their own mental strength
- Practice basic techniques that will help to develop mental strength
